‘City Of Infinite Happiness: Volume 1′ is a photo book showcasing 50 architecture and nature artworks. Over the past 10 months I have been researching, discovering, traveling to, and exploring the most unique, weird, niche, liminal, and abandoned places to document and photograph the architecture and nature around me. The majority of this project has focused on Ohio and the rest of the Midwest, with some work depicting other parts of America. I would go out into the world and come back to my studio apartment to sit at my desk for hours at a time editing these photos into pixel art digital paintings using gradients and limited color palettes perfectly dithered to make the most interesting textures creating a dreamlike, uncanny valley, comic book style. I developed the aesthetics of this style being inspired by Wes Anderson, Andy Warhol, Minecraft, Studio Ghibli, and Tumblr. This is the first of what I am planning on making a series of photo books and today there is a postcard and poster available to purchase alongside the book!
